In 1934 the young designer Hans Bergström started a small production of lamps in Helsingborg and after two years, the company, named Ateljé Lyktan, moved to Åhus in Sweden, where it has been seated ever since.

During the forties the small company became well known and when the company Bonniers inaugurated a new department store in New York 1949 and used lgihting from Ateljé Lyktan, the company got very much praise for its "innovative" and "gracious" lamps.

In 1964 Mr Anders Pehrson arrived to Ateljé Lyktan and in the period from 1964 till the end of the seventies he had a strong influence on the company. His philosophy was to decorate a room with several kinds of lamps, and this resulted in a wide range of lamps sorted in “families”.
Several of the lamp models from Ateljé Lyktan has become classics. “Bumling” is one of the most well known.
