World famous multi-artist Monica Backström studied at University College of Art, Craft and Design in 1959-1964 and started to work at the Boda glassworks when she won a competition in connection to the 100th Anniversary of Boda glassworks . This was the beginning of Monica's four decades career as glass artist .
Thru the years Monica has worked in different kinds of material and designed products in a number of product categories, such as glass, silver and metal.
In 2010 the Swedish company Design House Stockholm presented Monica's jewelry collection Knapp with focus on both function and design.
New series 2010 is also the Trissa series with necklaces and rings made of glass and silver. Trissa is, together with the Fröer collection with necklaces as Glasbjörk, Sälg, Svartrot, Cikoria, Koriander, Kärleksört och Hjärtstilla and the Connect silver series, presented as a limited edition at scandinaviandesigncenter.com .
