The owners of NS Intressenter and EOC Capital have jointly acquired 77 per cent of the shares in the Swedish e-commerce company Designonline.

Designonline, which was founded by Jörgen Bödmar in 2002, is an e-commerce company within interior design with sales to over 70 countries worldwide. Designonline offers 15,000 products from close to 200 well-known brands such as Iittala, Marimekko, Georg Jensen and Skultuna. The assortment covers a wide range of products, including glass, dinnerware, storage and lighting.

For 2015 it is estimated that revenues will amount to SEK 160-170 m, which is close to a 100 per cent increase compared with 2014, and an estimated operating profit exceeding SEK 20 m. The company is expanding quickly and during Black Friday, sales increased by more than 450 per cent compared with the same day last year.

Designonline has its business based in Kalmar, Sweden and has 50 employees.

The owners and people behind NS Intressenter are Nordstjernan, Karl-Johan Persson, Nicklas Storåkers and Mikael Lindahl. EOC Capital is represented by Anders Brenner and the founders of EOC Partners LLP. The acquisition is made together with the founder Jörgen Bödmar and the management team in the company. Jörgen Bödmar will stay on as the CEO and Nicklas Storåkers is the Chairman of the Board.

Jörgen Bödmar Svensk Digital Handel, SDh appointed new EMOTA President

At EMOTA’s annual spring meetings in Barcelona in March 2014 Jörgen Bödmar took over the presidency of EMOTA for the three years to come. He is succeeding Walter Devenuto who has chaired the association since 2011. Jörgen is the founder and CEO of Scandinavian Design Center, an e-commerce company that markets and sells Scandinavian design home interior products to 70 countries worldwide. EMOTA’s Board member Yiannis Kourniotis, Founder and CEO of Telemarketing, was elected Vice-President.

“eCommerce is growing so fast and its potential is far from being exhausted, both in- and outside Europe. As a trade association EMOTA has an important mission which is to support eCommerce and help it to flourish” said Mr Bödmar. “I am delighted to accept the very important role of President of EMOTA and look forward to closely cooperating with the EMOTA members and the team in Brussels”.

E-commerce of the year 2011

Swedish Distance Sellers (SDh) handed out its prestigious www-awards in four different categories during the Swedish Distance Selling Day. The most prestigious one "The e-commerce of the year 2011" award was given to Scandinavian Design Center. (designonline.se is the Swedish site).
