The popular Mini-Unikko fabric by Marimekko is a variant of the classic Unikko pattern that is designed by Maija Isola. The only difference to the original pattern is that Mini-Unikko has smaller poppy flowers.
The story about Unikko began in 1964 when Maija Isola created a colorful, floral pattern although the founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, proclaimed a ban on flowers in Marimekko prints. Maija Isola managed to convince her and the floral pattern was taken into production and became a major success.
