A good set of plates will last you for years to come. We believe this is all the more reason to find a design that you truly love. With brands such as Rörstrand, Royal Copenhagen and Arabia having produced dinnerware for hundreds of years, it is safe to say that the manufacturing of dinnerware has a long-rooted history in Scandinavia. As a result of this, Scandinavian brands have a rich assortment of beautiful dinner service ranges to choose from. Our assortment you will find plates made of materials including glass, stoneware, porcelain and bone china. Though the latter three may look similar at first glance, each type of material has their very own distinctive characteristics. Stoneware and porcelain are both manufactured at extremely high temperatures, creating smooth and highly qualitative dinnerware. The main difference between the two is the material composition, resulting in a very opaque finish in the case of stoneware, and a milky-translucent finish in porcelain. Bone china is a variation of porcelain and due to a unique blend of materials can be used to create incredibly thin, milky-translucent porcelain that is more durable and chip resistant. However, Scandinavian brands have not only mastered the art of manufacturing dinnerware. More than anything, Scandinavian brands such as Kähler, Iittala and Marimekko are known for their tasteful and timeless designs. Ranges such as Ostindia by Rörstrand, Teema & KoKo by Iittala, and Oiva by Marimekko have undoubtedly become classics when speaking of Scandinavian porcelain collections. Next to these classics, you will also find new and upcoming designs from contemporary designers and brands such as Bloomingville, Design Letter & Broste Copenhagen.
