Many of the printed textile designs people identify with Marimekko are by Maija Isola. The Unikko flower from 1964 has had a huge revival during the past few years and is now regarded as something of a Marimekko trademark.
The Unikko design is even more popular now than in 1960s and is used for all sorts of products including mobile telephone covers and television sets. Isola designed hundreds of patterns and the archives are still holding more of her vintage work. Maija Isola passed away in 2001.
