The Danish glasswork Holmegaard has a long and impressive history that roots back over nearly 200 years. With clean, classic Danish design, Holmegaard produces both mouth-blown and machine-blown glass of the finest quality.
In 1825, the Countess Henriette Denneskiold-Samsøe established the groundwork for the glasswork Holmegaard with the philosophy that every Dane should have beautifully designed drinking glasses. A few years earlier, her husband, Count Christian Danneskiold-Samsøe, sought permission from the King of Denmark to set up a glasswork at Holmegaard’s swamp. However, since the Count died before he received the answer, Henriette decided to fulfil the plan.
To begin with, Holmegaard only produced green glass bottles, however, after a few of the glass-workers from Böhmen started working at the glasswork, Henriette decided to modernize and expand the assortment.
Today Holmegaard collaborates with the renowned designers Peter Svarrer, Tome Nybroe and Maria Berntsen, creating modern, functional glass with inspiration from Holmegaard’s rich history. In our assortment you will find both glass for the home and for the table.
