At Målerås glassworks, they combine 100 years of craftsmanship with inventive and creative ideas from renowned glass artists Mats Jonasson and Ludvig Löfgren. Målerås produces hand-made glass art in both bold colours and world famous sculptures of flowers, animals and other detailed designs.
The glasswork factory in Småland, Sweden has a strong history dating back to 1890 when they produced glass bottles, household glass and jars. The company was a success until the 1970’s when the glass making industry in Sweden took a turn for the worse. In order to save Målerås’ legacy, the artist Mats Jonasson bought the company and preserved the skills for the future.
Today, Målerås is Sweden’s largest privately owned glassworks and the previous 40 years has seen Mats Jonasson offer a unique influence to the art and ornamental glass produced in the mill. Målerås glass uses an exclusive crystal recipe, designed to lighten the reflections of the light and give the glass extra clarity.
